I need to know what to set the dials to and where to touch the pins to check. I blew a board last time and I wanna make sure this one is done right b4 i power the board up.....PLEASE HELP IF IT AINT NICE, IT AINT ME!!

Then you could probably check voltages at pins and see if it's appropriate. However, by then you probably would have blown anything that was incorrectly connected. You're better to look up the datasheet of the FET and the schematic of the mainboard (or some of the diagrams from a FET supplier website) and double check things.

Then just place one probe on a leg of a FET, and the other probe to the leg of a part that you know is connected to the leg of the FET through a trace. If you hear a beep, then you have a connection. If you don't, then check the soldering. You must also use this technique to be sure that you DON'T have connections where you shouldn't. The only way to do this effectively is to know the circuit enough to know where to probe, and know if you either SHOULD or SHOULDN'T hear a beep. Sic Nano Dragon

The continuity setting shows whether it's connected or not (ie. connected = virtually no resistance and not connected = very high resistance). With the resistance setting, you can see approximately what that resistance is. If you don't get a beep, it might mean that it's not connected at all, but it might also mean that it's weakly connected, which could be a problem. A bit off topic, but something to look at if you want to learn more =)
