Lexan bodies are much easier to paint that the plastic ones and you always get a glossy finish since the Lexan itself is the gloss.

how would decals work with the lexan? if you have to stick them on the under side and then paint it, wouldn't the wrong side of the decal be showing?

Decals go on the outside ans stick just fine to the Lexan.

actually the stickers will look much better on lexan than they do on the hard plastic bodies. i think it is because the layer of lexan is clear then because the paint is under that the edges of the stickers do not show up as much. pleasesssss do some other choices for bodies this is the one thing that urks me about xmods is lack of body choices.

I think we have established that the MINI X bodies don't work on XMODS. We have had many people lately trrying to fit them on XMODS and they're always too long. I might get a G1 for fun and use spare Micro RS4 posts and buy a body or something. Just cuz it's kool.

i like the body, and you dont need to think of it as a nascar body, its a race body. It is lightweight and aerodynamic, i'll pick one up eventually.
And stop asking for more jap cars geeze...i'm a big nissan fan but theres plenty of that stuff already, tuners, muscle, etc. The next body needs to be a supercar to give xmods some class(civics.... i've made some sick 1/24 slot car body paintjobs(inside) which will be just like painting the nascar body on the inside, maybe i'll put a pic up. ![]() |

well then lets see some bodies like what racing 1/10 scale touring cars use. yea i know there are other plastic bodies that will fit xmods by making body mounts but it is very hard to make a mount that will stand up to say racing. also the beauty of lexan bodies is once it gets beat up it is cheap to get another there just needs to be enough people out there for someone to start making them. i would love to see more race oriented parts made avalible for the smaller r/c stuff both xmod and mini z not just a bunch of bling aluminum parts that end up making the car weigh a ton. if you look at pro 1/10 cars they do use some aluminum parts like knuckles but otherwise they replace the plastic parts with those mixed with carbon to create a part that is both lite and strong.

Quote: Nah ive done plenty with my tamiya. Just for noobs it can be confusing to learn how to paint in detail backwards on the inside. Ive seen them screw up and just paint the outside outa frustration. But yea the lack of needing clear with lexan is what i like always nice and shiny and a bit of car wax can buff scratches easily when you get one. ____________________________________

What you do is go to your local Drugmart (cheapest place for model cars is usally drug stores and 2nd class supermarket chains) and buy the Model of your favorite nacar driver. then you have paint info and All the correct stickers. plus vaious little detail pieces that you might be able to use, like gas caps and even wheels and tires if youre really ambitious.
If you cut an xmod wheel just right you can put a model wheel onto the ouside and then use 2 sided sticky tape to shim the xmod wheel out to match the model wheel... add some 1/24th scale slotcar foamies and youre ready to rock... I did this several times with my Tamtech back in the day. I had an SS454 , a 57 Chevy nomad and Donnie Allison bodies on her and they all looked great. -----------------------------------------------------------------

I, too, would like to see new bodies, especially for the trucks. As for the cars... I'm looking for exotics, like Lambos and Ferraris and such... That's what makes me drool.

what I really want is to put a s2000 mini-z body on my xmod until I can manage to buy a mini-z which will probably be after I've made an x mod i'm satisfied with. how do mini-z bodies attach to mini-zs? what i'm aiming or is a s2000 body that fits xmods not a xmod that fits miniz bodies. I'd love it if you guys at atomic mods would do a tutorial for that. thanks.
